ABSTRACT

Metabolism can be broken down into Anabolism or building up reactions and Catabolism or breaking down reactions. Carbohydrates are the primary fuel for high-intensity exercise such as wrestling which can be typically done at 100% of VO2max. Proteins and amino acids provide the building blocks for post-exercise muscle protein synthesis while fats are important for the absorption of fat soluble vitamins. Many vitamins provide co-factors for the metabolic reactions while minerals provide the electrolytes for muscle contraction and nerve conduction.
