ABSTRACT

The University of Minnesota Bio-Medical Library has offered classes in end user searching through its U-Search Program since January 1984. A total of more than 150 faculty, staff, and students have been trained to do online database searching on the BRS/Saunders Colleague and BRS/AFTER DARK systems. This paper discusses advantages and disadvantages of teaching end user searching in an academic health sciences library setting and presents the results of a follow-up survey of participants in the U-Search Program.
