ABSTRACT

Alice Wilcox is a member of the Reference Division at the University of Minnesota but, perhaps best known for her experience as Director of MINITEX for thirteen years. Alice is certainly well recognized for her leadership in serials access projects. In our conversations last night, it appears to me as though she has a particular interest and most definite thoughts about what I call “the network personality” and the impact of that personality in cooperative library networks. Her numerous activities include being a member of the Nicholas Task Force on Periodical Systems, and her work as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Pre-White House Conference on Networks. Because of the relative geographic proximity of Minnesota to Illinois and since both are state-based networks, many of us in Illinois have followed MINITEX’s activities. Although, I think libraries throughout the country have benefited from the leadership role and Ms. Wilcox’s work in the area of serials control. Alice.
