ABSTRACT

This chapter examines ways to control the treadmill, which is the speed at which an academic runs. It discusses developing a treadmill routine, either stepping off the treadmill to catch breath, slowing the treadmill, or setting the pace. It explores questions such as ‘How do I reduce the amount of email traffic?’ and ‘How do I reduce the amount of times I have the say the same thing?’. It asks readers to identify strategies and issues mentioned in the chapter that are most applicable, and consider ways to implement or improve their practice.
