ABSTRACT

Sensor fusion is combining of sensory data or data derived from disparate sources such that the resulting information has less uncertainty than would be possible when these sources were used individually. The data sources for a fusion process are not specified to originate from identical sensors. One can distinguish direct fusion, indirect fusion and fusion of the outputs of the former two. An inertial navigation system is a navigation assistant that uses an inertial measurement unit, typically composed of accelerometers and gyroscopes, to continuously calculate the position, orientation, velocity and trajectory of a moving object. Solid-state lighting has the potential to significantly reduce lighting energy use and slash greenhouse-gas emissions. The introduction of networked lights is happening because of another trend. Manufacturers have been replacing incandescent and fluorescent lights with ultra-efficient light emitting diode that have an Internet protocol address. Through sensor diffusion, the combined data offers a more robust positioning.
