ABSTRACT

This chapter emphasizes an extremely structured approach to media creation stressing modular conceptualization and planning, specifically in reference to the production of short-form, message-oriented production. Various creative strategies are also discussed, in particular an organic, “write what you know” approach to finding effective and efficient ideas that can communicate key themes in a unique manner. Emphasis on intent and impact will also hopefully dictate a “know where you are going before you begin” approach to all facets of the production workflow. The integration of “formal” graphic design principles within an efficient creative process is also stressed as integral to the pre-production process. Font and color choice and purpose are discussed in depth along with a condensed survey of common design influences and their origins.
