ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the reinforcement of basic theories and concepts involving video engineering as well as digital and informational technologies. Each concept includes a logical and practical explanation of theory and procedure as applied to various real-world production scenarios. Contemporary technical standards concerning audio, video, and still image file specifications are detailed, along with information describing the nature of digital media files. The information presented is intended as “baseline” information serving as a logical foundation for further research and experimentation on behalf of the reader and student. Specific care is taken to address the concerns of tech- and math-averse creatives. The pixel is defined as a unit of measurement as applied to digital imaging.
