ABSTRACT

The transition to IP continues to be a highly disruptive evolution across the entire broadcast and media production supply chain. Since the first edition, IP technology has evolved and matured for file-based production and progressed to include live production, timing and synchronization. The second edition continues to provide information and guidelines to design and implement IP, whether it’s into an existing facility or building a new one. his new edition looks at how standards are impacting the implementation of IP, what the new design considerations are, based on the inclusion of live production and the spectrum of differences in the planning and design of an IP and file-based infrastructure. Historically, there have been significant milestones in the growth and evolution of broadcast and production technologies and processes. This new edition examines the profound and substantial changes created by the transition to IP.
