ABSTRACT
India’s security ties with extra-regional powers with strategic interests in the Indian Ocean have expanded in recent years. India has sought to engage with other world powers to counter balance increasing Chinese assertiveness in regional and global affairs. This chapter discusses India’s relations with the United States, France, Japan, Russia, Australia, and the United Kingdom. It also examines the recent quadrilateral dialogue to explain its significance and future prospects for India.
