ABSTRACT

Chapter 13 clarifies the difficult concept of “personality” and discusses the use and misuse of personality tests.

The concept of personality remains a vague but important concept for psychodynamic organisation theory. Two specific personality models – five factor and MBTI/JTI – are outlined and discussed.

The chapter then discusses the connection between successful managers and specific personality traits. It is suggested that instead of talking about a special manager personality, one should talk about the requirements for a manager’s maturity.
