Phase Three: Researching

WithTimothy D. Green, Loretta C. Donovan, Jody Peerless Green

Fullan suggests that the initiation phase of innovation adoption is where decisions are being made and plans are being established about how to assist individuals in adopting an innovation. The author considers the Planning, Understanding, and Researching phases to be similar to what Fullan calls the initiation phase of change because reader are gathering information and making decisions about innovation adoption during these phase. The Researching Phase of the Planning, Understanding, Researching, Preparing, Operationalizing, Sustaining, Evaluating Framework allows reader to apply what they gained from the Understanding Phase and will help reader with the Preparing Phase. It is important as a change agent to be aware of the role of interventions during the change process. The Researching Phase begins with identifying key individuals. The Opinion Leaders are generally part of Early Majority Adopter Category. They are the people who are willing to try something new but are not necessarily the first to try it.
