ABSTRACT

It is important to understand that there are many perspectives on change. Readers have been decidedly influenced by three perspective——Everett Rogers, Michael Fullan, and Gene Hall and Shirley Hord. They are among the most well-known experts in Educational Change and Innovation Adoption. Their perspectives are research-based and have been used for many years to guide research related to innovation adoption and educational change. Despite their uniqueness, these perspectives are not completely dissimilar. They all point to the need to consider and to address a collection of interrelated factors if an innovation is going to be adopted and diffused, and if the change is to be sustained. The individual will use the innovation based on the individual's needs. During this stage, the individual is determining how useful the innovation is to them. The individual will consider whether adopting the innovation was an appropriate decision for the individual and for the organization.
