ABSTRACT

Big Data in Internet of Things (IoT) is a large and fast-developing area where many different methods and techniques can play a role. IoT is one of the most rapidly emerging platforms for the digital economy. Large software systems with Big Data analytics modules are required to run virtual simulations of complex production processes, logistics, distribution, financial risk, equipment health and human aspects. This chapter focuses on Semantic Technologies and cognitive computing systems. Category theory provides Big Data and IoT with a variety of computational frameworks including the co-algebraic representation of automatons and transition systems, domain theory, the geometry of interaction, along with specific sites such as elementary topos. Semantic technologies provide users with integrated access to data by applying search and navigation techniques that are tuned to the computational ontologies of relevance to the organization. Radio frequency identification allows automatic identification and data capture using radio waves, a tag, and a reader.
