ABSTRACT

A series of Business Improvement at Cambridge seminar sessions are also underway. Time is also available for general discussion and networking over tea and biscuits. A number of delegates at the training have also shown interest in gaining further knowledge and professional qualifications. The Research Operations Contracts Team have been working to reduce contract turnaround times by decreasing the amount of paper in the process, as well as improving communication and clarifying the risk management process across the university. Spreading the word about Lean has followed a predominantly bottom up approach, and although some senior management have attended training, there remains a disconnect between what is happening at the grass roots level and decisions and initiatives being discussed at much higher levels. The Data Centre team are actively looking at how equipment is commissioned from purchase to production-ready deployment as well as defining the minimum standards for information technology equipment to be housed at the Data Centre.
