ABSTRACT

Some of the most common challenges in implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) or Lean across any organisation is obtaining buy-in from all staff and developing the culture of identifying and addressing waste. This chapter highlights one aspect of the work at the University of Lincoln CI Team towards solving this problem, with the team’s star Twitter correspondent Muda Mole. Twitter has the capacity to reach an audience that people would never expect to receive their message and to hopefully develop a group of likeminded individuals that can cultivate a culture for change. A tweet size has been extended to 280 characters and this small size means people must ensure their information is concise and relevant so they attract the readers’ attention. Muda regularly searches for CI or Lean on Twitter to make sure he is up-to-date and to see people that are tweeting about these topics.
