ABSTRACT

A brief explanation of differentiation is given in the introduction. This is followed by differentiation from first principles. Next, it is explained how sin x changes to cos x on differentiation and vice versa; this is followed by worked examples of different complexity. Techniques such as function of a function, chain rule by recognition, the product rule and the quotient rule are explained to differentiate a range of algebraic and other expressions. Worked examples of calculating the numerical values differential coefficients are also dealt with. Finally, Exercises 10.1, 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 are included at the end so the readers can revise and reinforce their learning.
