ABSTRACT

The definition and application of geometry is explained followed by explanation of angles, triangles and other geometrical shapes. Pythagoras’ theorem is explained with worked examples. Calculation of areas of regular geometrical shapes is explained followed by the area calculation of irregular shapes. Mid-ordinate rule, trapezoidal rule and Simpson’s rule are explained followed by the calculation of volumes of regular and irregular objects. Theorem of Pappus is explained for calculating the volume of curved objects. The end of chapter exercise includes a range of questions for the readers to reinforce their learning.
