ABSTRACT

The first volume of Wilfred Bion’s autobiography, The Long Week-End, covered the period up to 1919 when he was demobilized from the army and for the first time had to face civilian life as an adult, unqualified for any profession, or indeed for any occupation by which he might earn his living. A number of quotes from The Other Side of Genius that refer to specific writings/occasions have been included are: Love; Different ball games; Bion and his children: Parthenope, Julian and Nicola; Queer job of mine; and The strain of war. Francesca Bion was born on 23 November 1922 and was in her early twenties when she met Bion, himself in his forties.
