ABSTRACT

The focus of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is to provide the customer with what they want, when they want the product, how or the form they want the product in and at the price they want. GD&T is an international visual language. With the proliferation of globalization, it is not unusual to have virtual teams working on design issues. Virtual teams in today's organizations consist of employees working at home and small groups in the office but in different geographic locations. GD&T in many organizations falls in this category. In the strictest sense, a core team is made up of about five to nine individuals who have appropriate and applicable knowledge, authority, and responsibility to carry out the decision(s) of the team and must have ownership of what is being discussed. As the work progresses, other individuals may enter the discussion, based on necessity or attrition of members.
