ABSTRACT

In the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process there is an inherent change in every area of the process. The three key characteristics that propel leaders to take action are based on their own style for managing change. Generally, there are three styles. The styles are conserver, pragmatist and originator. Specific time should be allotted for an open discussion in the organization about the changes needed to satisfy customer requirements. Some of the considerations should be: Change awareness, change agility, change reaction and change mechanisms. Change management processes include a sequence of steps or activities that move a change from inception to delivery. While some changes may be for the better and others may be for the worse, the automotive industry wants everyone to think of change in terms of risk. The ability to manage changes within an organization is only as good as the organization's risk management process to identify potential sources of change.
