ABSTRACT
A Smart City strategy is a strategy that integrates all the services that a city needs by modernising as much as possible – according to the technological development – all the requirements for its public management. L’Alfas del Pi, like many other municipalities in the Spanish Mediterranean area, must take a stance regarding its future development model and establish its objectives, the realisation of which can be achieved with the support of technological solutions. Smart City is a new urban model based on knowledge. It is a new type of urban development based on in-depth research-exploration and wide application of the latest information and communication technologies. L’Alfas del Pi bases its smart strategy on reconverting its territory towards a healthy socio-economic model of specialisation. The participation of innovative companies and technology centres – universities – is essential to achieve the objectives of a Smart City strategy.
