ABSTRACT

The epilogue is a meditation on the relationship between decolonization and utopia and suggests that decolonization is both hope actualized and a horizon of expectation. It is, as such, both an event and a process. The chapter also comments on the trajectory of utopianism in postcolonial India suggesting that while it has largely been denuded of content to become an empty formula, the spirit of utopia nevertheless lives on and gives life to transformative politics.
