ABSTRACT

152 A 12–year-old male neutered Australian Cattle dog presents with a 12‑week history of mild polyuria, polydipsia, and abdominal distention. An elevated alkaline phosphatase activity (5× the upper limit of normal) was noted on initial diagnostic evaluation and has been progressive. Empirical therapy with the nutraceuticals melatonin, denamarin, and ursodiol were ineffective at 8 weeks of duration. Screening for hyperadrenocorticism (low-dose dexamethasone suppression test, adrenocortical hormone stimulation test, adrenal sex hormone panel), hypothyroidism, gallbladder mucocele, bactibilia, and pancreatitis were all negative. The dog is current on recommended vaccinations and receives heartworm and parasite prophylaxis. The owner reports that he has a good appetite, normal activity level, and normal mentation.
