ABSTRACT

66 A 3-year-old male intact French bulldog presents with a recent onset of respiratory distress, demonstrated by wheezing while breathing for the previous 2 weeks. The dog was bright, alert, and responsive on physical examination. He has a rectal temperature of 40.0°C (104.1°F), a mildly elevated heart rate of 150 beats/minute, and a respiratory rate of 40 breaths/minute. During respiration, a significant abdominal effort was noted. Lung auscultation revealed referred upper airway noise that limited ability to hear the lower airways. Auscultation of the larynx revealed significant inspiratory stertor, stridor, and expiratory wheezing. Cardiac auscultation revealed no murmurs or arrhythmias.
