ABSTRACT
Welcome to the wonderful and sometime mysterious world of wig styling! Wigs can be a great asset to any theatrical costume or historical costume recreation. Learning the techniques of wig styling can help everyone achieve the completely authentic look they are striving for. Wigs give you the ability to create many looks that would take a long time with someone’s real hair—wigs have the advantage of being able to be prepped ahead of time so that they are ready to put on at a moment’s notice, which saves valuable time with your performer! This is especially helpful if you are working on a theatrical production and you only have an hour and a half to get a cast of twenty people ready in historical looks. The techniques presented in this book will help you create a wide number of different hairstyles from different eras of history. Many of these techniques can also be adapted for use on someone’s real hair if a wig or hairpiece is not an option. I hope this book will be used by theatre technicians, film technicians, historical reenactors, fashion professionals, hairstylists, cosplayers, and anyone else looking to create unique and elaborate hairstyles.
