ABSTRACT

International standards provide much needed guidance in the form of the non-obligatory but ascertained regulation on how to perform safe and reliable verification for almost any subject. Each standard, depending on the area of applicability, provides one of the following: 1) conformity assessment, 2) systematic assessment of hazards and risk factors, 3) recommended working or measuring conditions, 4) standardized testing procedures, codes of practice and protocols, 5) set of common rules, guidelines and characteristics, 6) general protection/assessment/measurement methods, 7) guidance on preventing and eliminating risks and 8) relatively cheap verified expertise that yields uniformity. The secondary benefits from using international standards are seen through 1) faster economic advancement, 2) globalization of products and test methods through usage of attested measuring methods and quality inputs, 3) quicker information and production turn out, 4) enhanced efficiency in quality control assessment and product analysis, 5) compatibility and 6) cost reduction. As technology advances on a daily basis, the benefits of using the” know how” already tested by peak experts in the field of particular interest is unquestionable. Newly developed techniques, material characteristics and performance requirements are updated and incorporated into current international standards or new ones being developed.
