ABSTRACT

At this point, you have likely read the chapters you were interested in, or perhaps you read the entire book. First, we would like to thank you for being a dedicated and caring teacher or school administrator, or concerned caregiver or community member. Second, we hope you found the chapters useful in helping your students navigate the challenges facing them to ultimately achieve their best possible outcomes. Third, you may be dealing with an “active” trauma; if so, we recommend that you use some of the wonderful resources that have been included in the appendices by our contributors. Finally, we congratulate you for having the courage to affect change within your students, our children, and youth. This volume was designed to assist you in helping our children and youth who have either experienced trauma directly or indirectly (e.g., by having friends that have been traumatized or through the media).
