ABSTRACT
A text such as this one can be difficult to write because the speed at which technology is evolving can make the research and content of the book obsolete before the words are printed on a page. These technological advances are important for helping professionals, as are other evolving topics in the area of Internet pornography and young people. This chapter examines three specific issues that have come to the forefront of the field recently: government involvement in Internet pornography, the advancement of deepfake technology, and the issue of sexting among young people. Specifically, this chapter explores the various legal efforts being made in many countries and communities to address SEIM consumption and how those efforts may conflict with free speech protections. Regarding deepfakes, this chapter describes what deepfakes are, how they can be developed, and how adolescents and other populations can protect themselves from this threat. Finally, the chapter takes an in-depth look at sexting behavior and the consequences it can have for young people.
