ABSTRACT

I was happy to accept the invitation extended by your society to keynote your seminar because 1 found your seminar theme, “Toward a Philippine Model of Social Development,” and the particular subject suggested for my address, “Philosophy of Social Development in the Context, of Philippine History,” both intriguing and challenging. In his letter of invitation, your president stated that one of the objectives of your seminar is “to examine existing social development programmes sponsored by both government and non-governmental agencies and organizations” with a view to evolving “a model of development for the Philippines.”
