ABSTRACT
Several portable electronic devices, namely laptops and cell phones, work on dc power suppliers powered by batteries. These electronic devices have many electronic circuits within them, and each one operates at different voltage levels. The accompanying dc/dc converters are supplied by a dc source/battery and provide different voltage levels. These converters operate at high frequencies of the range 10 KHz to 1 MHz, leading to a small size for inductors and capacitors. This section introduces operational features of three basic type of dc/dc converters.
