ABSTRACT
The World Bank would have us believe that Ghana is the model pupil of structural adjustment Wrong. Since the setting up of a democratic constitutional framework, Ghanaian trade unions have not been prepared to acquiesce in government policy, and have instead attempted to reaffirm their right to promote workers’ interests. They also propose an alternate framework for the economy; this is an option that transcends political infighting, as the phrase is normally understood.
