ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the implemented steps of the test development, which consisted of a construction and a validation phase. Through the development of the Short Recovery and Stress Scale (SRSS) based on the derivation of items from the factor structure of the Acute Recovery and Stress Scale (ARSS), an adaption to the ARSS and a joint application and interpretation should be facilitated in the long term. The development of the SRSS was highlighted by S. Horvath and P. Rothlin as one approach on how to shorten questionnaires in the applied sport psychology setting to improve their usability. In addition to answering the ARSS, SRSS, and RESTQ-Sport-76 or Profile of Mood States, the participants provided sociodemographic information. The first validation study was carried out as a field study and aimed at proving the ARSS’s and SRSS’s sensitivity to change in the presentation of recovery and stress processes during different stress situations.
