ABSTRACT

Algae are photosynthetic thallophytic plants which are not differentiated into roots, stems, and leaves. They have chlorophyll as the main component and are photosynthetic. Along with chlorophyll a, they have chlorophyll b, c, d, and e. Reserve food material also varies and the presence of different types of chlorophyll and reserve food is the main criteria of algae classifications. Although at organizational level, algae are very simple, but economically they are very important. In this chapter, we are discussing some important uses of algae.
