ABSTRACT

The Cross-Border Section, the first functional phase of the New Turin-Lyon Railway Line, concerns the mountainous territory between Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne (France) and Susa-Bussoleno (Italy). From the early project stages up to the start of the 2000s, the data produced have been collected in a specialized structure for the purpose of rapid and organized consultation. After implementing the portal, data were received from the excavation of the survey adit tunnels. A large volume of data is expected to arrive once the future construction sites become active. These will be sites where sections excavated in the traditional way will be followed by many mechanized sections. In order to achieve near real-time use, data organization for the purpose of filing and accessibility must be done in a structured and simple manner. With a single touchscreen on a personal smartphone it is now possible to follow the progress of the Federica TBM, which is excavating 9 km of gallery in French territory, and it will shortly be possible to follow the progress of a further 7 TBMs.
