ABSTRACT

The Gronda motorway bypass crosses different valleys, where the landscapes are either protected or in any case are of high quality. The tunnels mouths portals are designed in a circular shape, inclined in relation to the slope of the earth cover to reduce the exposed concrete. The technical services building are integrated into the remodelling of the land, leaving only the front entrance visible. The earth covers use gently inclined artificial embankments capable of being planted with shrub and tree species, that will encourage the vegetation to return to its former state. The way in which the project is set into the landscape, and the evolution of the works over time, are fully documented by aerial and ground-level CGIs.
