ABSTRACT
Su’ai tunnel, as an important subsea tunnel in Shantou City, is a two-bore and two-way highway tunnel with six lanes which employed a super-large slurry TBM with the diameter of 15.03m. Due to the fact that the number of shield blocks and the weight of each block is larger than regular diameter TBMs, there are many technical difficulties during the site assembly. This paper presents the assembly process of super-large slurry TBM in launching shaft and discusses key technologies and matters worthy of attention in the whole process.
