ABSTRACT

In order to reduce the risk of manual overhaul, improve construction efficiency, and assist the TBM driver in deciding whether the cutting tools need to be changed or not, it is of great significance to realize the visual management of the wear conditions for cutting tools. This paper introduces resistor array type wear sensor, studies how the sensor transmits signal to the Human Machine Interface (HMI) for real-time display, and presents a scraper and ripper real-time wear monitoring system in detail which is designed specifically for CREG(China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd.) TBMs. Furthermore, the system was applied to a metro project of Beijing New Airport Line Project. The results show that the wear sensor is of high accuracy and versatility, and abrasion magnitude could be displayed on the HMI in real time, so as to significantly improve the tunneling efficiency.
