ABSTRACT

The Follo Line project is a unique project and currently the largest TBM project in Norway. It uses four TBM’s and will when completed provide the country with the longest rail tunnel in any of the Nordic countries. The project employs four TBM’s, all of which have been deployed from the same starting point. Together they will be jointly responsible for drilling 36 km of tunnels between Oslo and Ski. The object of this abstract is to highlight how Innovation has been implemented through different in-house developed software systems, such as Cutter Disc Management systems and Connected Operational Intelligence Systems (COI). The developed software is classified as a specific Big Data-management system and it is based on live information taken from various sources, such as, geographical input, TBMs, concrete precast reports and cutter disc consumption studies. It provides updated information about TBM performance, availability, downtime, pregrouting, traffic management, cutter consumption and quality mapping from the segment factory. In summary, it represents an innovative up to date more efficient control system and a useful Big Data management tool for future project analysis.
