ABSTRACT

Since Madrid Metro network was inaugurated in 1919 the total length has been extended until the current 294 km. The construction activity on consolidated and old city centre in most cases brings with it the impact over the old metro infrastructure. New basements or high buildings designed near to the shallow masonry tunnels must be carefully studied to avoid damage, as well monitoring plans during construction must be followed. The number of interventions along the year can be high and this requires a proper management system.
