ABSTRACT

This chapter explores a three-layer feed-forward neuronet activated by a group of Chebyshev polynomials of Class 1 and equipped with a weights-and-structure-determination (WASD) algorithm to learn the historical data and predict the population. The prediction of Oceanian population, which can be used for decision making and scientific research, is becoming more and more important and necessary. Oceania is often neglected by the demographers, its vast land and abundant resources make Oceanian population increase in the near future. Despite the difference of growth rate, the predictions made by Chebyshev-activation neuronet with WASD algorithm all indicate the increase of Oceanian population. Population predictions can help policymakers craft policies that can be adapted for various prediction scenarios. The policies made by a vague and wide range of population prediction, though rounded, may additionally cost a huge amount of money and resources. It is obviously more reasonable and economical to process the accurate high-possibility predictions in priority.
