ABSTRACT

This paper is focused on fibre orientation in cementitious composites. The purpose of this research was to verify the influence of the casting direction of the cement composite fibre-reinforced mixture into the formwork on the final fibre orientation and on the mechanical properties of the hardened concrete. The influence of two perpendicular casting direction (to make horizontally and vertically formed samples) on fibre reinforced cementitious composites and mechanical parameters was experimentally confirmed. Tensile strength and specific fracture energy of samples with different casting direction were compared by three-point bending test. Test results and evaluation of measurement data were performed by means of the specific fracture energy values. The reference mixture was made of the same composition without steel fibres to compare results.
