ABSTRACT

Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is one of good options for economical and efficient bridge inspections. However, it is still under discussion how to assess the current structural performance by means of SHM. This study aims to examine how change in load resistance capacity of a Prestressed Concrete (PC) girder bridge influence on their dynamic properties through a bridge collapse test under static loadings on a real PC girder bridge. In the static loading test, the PC girder bridge was loaded under several loading and unloading scenarios until failure. Besides, forced vibration tests from both impact hammer test and moving vehicle test were carried out along with the static loading test in order to assess the changes in the dynamic properties of the PC girder bridge with different health conditions. Observations showed strong relationships between the frequency for the 2nd bending mode and the level of structural performance.
