ABSTRACT

The dynamics of interaction of a Multi-environmental system with a multiplicity of environments is very complex and has to be tested early during the construction of the system architecture. This chapter presents the description of a design decision support tool that includes a possibilistic Activity Structures based simulator. It attempts to characterise the design of a system as a process of building a representation of a composite object that is to be constructed according to some requirement specification. The chapter describes the exposition of the essential concepts and modelling structures employed in the multi-environmental simulation process embedded in the possibilistic simulator. It outlines an Activity Structures based meta-description of the possibilistic simulator. The complete shell is an Activity Structures based simulation model of a computer system. A simulator that would be effective the in evaluation of multi-environmental architectures has to capture the dynamics of changes within the set of all environments entering into the projection process.
