ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a comparison of countries and explanations in terms of cultural values. It focuses on differences between locations and in particular, and explores cultural differences in participants' local context. The occurrence of peer aggression and bullying varies between countries and it has been suggested that differences in their prevalence rates could be partly attributed to cultural differences. The greatest number of harmed male aggressors was found in India and the Philippines. The number of males and females categorised in the Harmed Aggressor group did not significantly vary except in Indonesia where males were more likely to be classified in this group. Analysis of the data has revealed wide variation in the prevalence of harmful peer aggression amongst nations, with the highest occurrence in India and the Philippines and the lowest in Taiwan and South Korea. However, cultural differences only partly explain the variation between countries.
