ABSTRACT

Mental health is a much-discussed topic in education, and indeed everywhere. There are regular reports in the news about pupils and teachers suffering increasing mental health concerns. Support agencies are struggling to cope, for a variety of reasons, and education settings are feeling isolated in knowing how to help staff and pupils. Depression, anxiety, self-harm and eating disorders are some of the common mental health issues faced in education on a daily basis. This book looks at what is done environmentally to support good positive mental health and well-being and ensure no mental harm is caused for both staff and pupils. It provides the basic foundations for supporting positive mental health and well-being. The book provides some suggestions with a few cognitive behavioural therapy tools and also uses a lot of ideas from cognitive behavioural therapy.
