ABSTRACT
The Communist Party in Zaporizhzhya had a huge apparatus that in Soviet times duplicated the state apparatus. It fulfilled an essential role in moving and controlling society and economy. Party officials were present in each enterprise, in each institution and every town district. What happened with this huge apparatus when the party-state collapsed? What happened with the fortunes the party controlled?
