ABSTRACT

Hong Kong, a vertical-based Asia metropolis in Southern China, is the city with the global highest number of high-rise buildings of more than 150 metres. This city is the main research context of the study series presented in the subsequent chapters. This chapter will provide the geo-socio-political context background of Hong Kong. It describes the meteorological pattern of the city. A brief review of the climate change and health impact in this city will be included in this chapter.
