ABSTRACT
“Teachers Stand Alone” describes the inherent isolation of teaching—a holdover from the industrial model—and suggests how school systems can transition to a more collaborative model of co-creation for curriculum design and implementation. It juxtaposes the initial experience of a new teacher with the far more robust and supportive onboarding process in a corporate environment. This lack of support for new teachers likely contributes to the high percentage of teachers who leave the profession within the first five years.
