ABSTRACT

“Becoming a Teacher” provides a prescription for fixing professional development (PD), both initial teacher training (ITE) and ongoing PD. It challenges teachers’ colleges to rethink curriculums, few of which adequately prepare new teachers for contemporary classrooms and digital native students. The fast pace of change also requires teachers to view themselves as lifelong learners in the teaching of content, literacies, competencies, social/emotional learning (SEL) and character.
