ABSTRACT

Teaching is an important profession because teachers have teaching assignments while educating students, so that students are educated both academically and morally. As professionals, teachers have the rights and obligations listed in Act No. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers, one of the right being freedom giving sanctioning to students. In reality, there are several cases where teachers are prosecuted by parents when applying sanctions in order to educate students. Based on this, this article will discuss: How are the methods of the teacher in enforcing discipline towards students? How is the teacher‘s perception of the protection in their profession as an educator? And how does the government protect the rights of teachers in enforcing discipline? The data in this article were obtained through questionnaires distributed to ten teachers and documentation studies. The result showed most teachers do not understand the contents of the law on teachers.
